The manufacturer has claimed its Alto model is a cost-effective choice as it qualifies for category 1E cover.

It also pointed out the vehicle could save motorists money in other areas.

The group explained the car boasts fuel economy of 64.2 mpg - which may mean owners can reduce the amount they spend at the pump.

In addition to this, the auto is eligible for annual road tax of £35.

So far, the model has accounted for 54 per cent of all the 4,900 Suzuki models ordered under the cash for bangers initiative.

David Seward, sales and marketing director, said the company has enjoyed great success under the scheme and is keen to build on its achievements to date.

He stated: "As the government funds begin to get eaten up, we hope customers will continue to visit Suzuki showrooms and choose a Suzuki as their next purchase."
