27 July 2009 Road tax band might mean more cash for car insurance
The road tax band for one of the newest Jaguars means drivers will have to shell out £175 a year and this could mean more money is left for car insurance.According to Jeremy Clarkson in his column for the Times, the price of the XF 3.0 Diesel S Portfolio - £44,200 - is lower than the cheapest BMW 535d and is worth it.
In addition to giving the car four stars out of a possible five, he pointed out the road tax band and the carbon emissions, which are 179 g/km.
"Either I'm getting old or this car's brilliant," the Top Gear presenter said.
Other highlights noted included the Jag's low noise level and lack of vibration, which makes it feel like a petrol model rather than a diesel.
Also reviewed this week in the Times was the Peugeot 3008 1.6 THP. Andrew Frankel described it as "one of the smoothest and most engaging cars on the market".
