The government consultation is not expected to result in changes to the law.

However, the country's leaders have indicated it will be employed to help them form future policies.

The new review was announced by transport minister Paul Clark.

He stated: "The domestic drivers' hours rules affect thousands of workers across the UK, so it is vital that they are effective in keeping drivers, passengers and other road users safe."

Meanwhile, people who ensure they take regular breaks and do not get behind the wheel when tired may find they are in a better position to protect their cheap van insurance premiums.
