The Mini First has been unveiled and car insurance policyholders looking for a new motor may want to check it out.

With a 1.4-litre engine, the vehicle is said to be the best value Mini currently on the market. It starts at a price of £10,950 on the road, but extras packages are available from £525 to £855.

The car has a six-speed manual gearbox with a power output of 75 hp. It can reach 62 mph from zero in 13.2 seconds and has a top speed of 109 mph.

According to the manufacturer, "minimalism" technologies such as auto start-stop technology, a variable valve system and shift point display are all built in.

Mini cited experts when saying the First is expected to retain half of its value after 30,000 miles or three years.

"The most affordable new Mini ever appeals to the head as well as the heart," it added.
