02 July 2009 Nissan extends its cash for bangers deal
More motorists may end up taking out comprehensivecar insurance policies for Nissan models in the coming months, as a result of the manufacturer's latest announcement. It has revealed drivers will be able to take part in its version of the scrappage scheme for a further three months.
Participants will find they can get a minimum of £2,000 off any of the group's British-built autos, if they have a model to trade in that is between eight and ten years old.
The company claimed it was a better deal than the official cash for bangers initiative, where vehicles being handed over must have been registered at least a decade ago.
Paul Willcox, the manufacturer's managing director, commented: "Our £2,000 minimum trade-in provides what the governments scrappage scheme fell short of offering - a real incentive to buy a British-built car."
Meanwhile, motorists who manage to save money by taking part in the programme may find they can cut costs further by searching for cheap comprehensive car insurance online.
