30 June 2009 NGN opts for Ford Transit
Drivers who expect to be taking out van insurance for a new vehicle in the coming months but have not yet decided which model to opt for may be inspired by the choice of one utilities company.Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has chosen to use Ford Transits for its emergency response and repair service.
The vehicles in question are based on the high-roof, 350 medium-wheelbase models, equipped with 2.4-litre 140PS diesel engines.
NBN explained one of the key reasons it opted for this particular vehicle is its ability to house on-board power systems.
The vans have been fitted with vinyl seating, 70 mph speed limiters, alarms and heavy-duty batteries.
United Utilities made the order, as it provides management assistance to the firm.
Head of transport services Gary Banister commented: "In this instance, Transit technology provides the best platform for our needs."
Drivers who think the model may be right for them too may find they can get a good deal on van insurance online.
