29 June 2009 Oil check campaign 'a success'

National Oil Check Week declared a success A significant number of motorists may have reduced their chances of being involved in a traffic accident and having to make a car insurance claim as the result of a recent campaign.

Vehicle care company Comma has declared National Oil Check Week a success, after approximately 7,200 drivers took advantage of free dipstick tests being offered across the country.

Sales and marketing director Mike Bewsey said: "The week as a whole went very well and the feedback we got from the motorists who came through our oil check roadshows was extremely positive."

However, figures from Comma revealed 45 per cent of British auto owners are still driving around with dangerously low levels of engine lubrication.

The firm claimed this could lead to serious mechanical problems and expensive repairs.

In addition to this, motorists who do not top up their oil regularly may be increasing their chances of having a crash, thereby jeopardising their cheap car insurance premiums.
