The number of people searching for cheap comprehensive car insurance for second-hand prestige motors may have gone up over recent weeks, if the comments of one auction firm are anything to go by.

According to BCA, it has experienced a significant increase in the number of customers looking to buy such models.

The company revealed its recent sales have seen one buyer pay £85,000 for a Lamborghini Gallardo coupe and another shell out £56,400 for a 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena.

Meanwhile, a 2007 Maserati Quattroporte V8 Executive GT went for £41,000 and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage of the same age made £50,400.

Operations director Simon Henstock said: "Interest has been building all year ... and values have improved notably in recent weeks."

Motorists who have paid a little more than they were planning to on a new auto may find they can at least reduce their running costs by taking the time to search for cheap comprehensive car insurance online.
