According to the company, its new Mazda3 is the perfect choice for companies looking to tighten their belts during the recession.

It pointed out firms would benefit from certain tax benefits because the vehicle boasts CO2 emissions under the 160 g/km threshold.

On top of this, the car is expected to hold onto as much as 35 per cent of its original price tag after three years or 60,000 miles – meaning companies might end up making some money back when they come to sell the auto.

Fleet and remarketing director Peter Allibon said: "Mazda3 represents a fantastic cost-effective alternative to the perceived mainstream models in the lower medium sector."
