The Ibiza has scooped a recent honour in recognition of the fact it is hard for criminals to steal and break into.

It came top in the supermini class in the latest British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.

This is the first time the Spanish manufacturer has received such an accolade and it expressed great satisfaction at the honour.

Peter Wyhinny, head of Seat in the UK, stated: "To see the Ibiza secure such an impressive vote of confidence in its security is ... very important."

The model was awarded the maximum five-star rating in the Theft Of group and a four-star mark in the Theft From category.

Meanwhile, ladies who fit their vehicles with extra security devices may find they qualify for cheaper comprehensive car insurance.
