More motorists may end up taking out comprehensivecar insurance policies for Skoda models after hearing the results of a recent poll.

The manufacturer has clinched a place in the top five in the latest JD Power & Associates Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Survey.

According to the company, the result shows it is a "manufacturer of happy drivers".

UK director Robert Hazelwood said: "This result is impartial confirmation that Skoda continues to offer great quality products and excellent value for money."

He added the launch of the new Yeti - scheduled for September - should introduce a whole host of extra devotees to the brand.

Meanwhile, the group's Octavia model took the title of top small family auto in the JD Power survey for the third consecutive year.
