08 June 2009 New initiative 'could save van drivers money'
People who always make the effort to secure cheap van insurance may be able to cut other running costs as well thanks to a new database, it has been claimed.According to the Department for Transport, an information resource launched today could help drivers reduce the amount they spend at the pump.
It explained the system contains details of the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption of all the latest vans.
As a result, buyers will be able to choose a model that helps them minimise the impact on the planet and their wallet.
Transport secretary Andrew Adonis said: "It's important to help motoring consumers make the right choice, both for themselves and for the environment."
At the moment, vans are responsible for about 15 per cent of the UK's road traffic emissions.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen recently revealed it will be calling its new pick-up the Amarok - which means the wolf in the language of the Inuit.
