05 June 2009 Police offer crime prevention tips
Motorists keen to protect their cheap third party car insurance premiums may want to follow advice from Greater Manchester Police.Following a spate of vehicle break-ins where satnavs were stolen, the force issued a statement suggesting drivers remove valuables and leave their glove boxes open when leaving autos unattended.
Officers explained if a thief can see there is nothing worth stealing in a car, they are unlikely to target that motor.
The force also issued a number of other tips.
PC Andy Costello stated: "Satnavs seem to be the most desirable item, so please remove the cradles and wipe away sucker marks from windows to prevent cars from attracting thieves."
Officers will be on hand in the coming days to offer further crime prevention advice to residents in the Newton Heath, Ancoats and Northern Quarter areas of Manchester - as this is where the latest series of break-ins have occurred.
Fitting an alarm is another way motorists may be able to deter thieves and help protect their cheap third party car insurance cover.
