More drivers in the UK may start searching for van insurance policies for Iveco models after the manufacturer announced it was joining the scrappage scheme.

The firm said it expected the news to be particularly welcome among tradesmen and small retailers who often own very old vehicles.

It added this was the perfect opportunity for such professionals to update their van with something more efficient and better equipped.

Marketing director Andrea Bucci revealed the £2,000 financial incentive is available immediately.

"It will run until the end of February 2010 and enables operators to benefit from a sizeable discount off the cost of a new vehicle," she stated.
