The number of burglary-related home insurance claims made in Bolton could fall as a result of a new police campaign.

Officers in the area revealed a recently-introduced task force has enjoyed significant success in its first week.

In the space of seven days, members of the team have recovered some £9,000 worth of stolen property and arrested 24 suspected offenders.

Police involved in the operation have been out and about ensuring convicted burglars are sticking to bail conditions and curfews - and also executing search warrants.

On top of this, officers have been visiting members of the local community and dishing out crime prevention advice.

Chief Inspector Andrea Jones commented: "We have had some excellent results in our first week and made some key arrests, locking up some of our most prolific offenders."

Meanwhile, Greater Manchester Police recently suggested people living in Stockport could reduce their chances of having to make a home insurance claim by securing their sheds carefully.
