Car insurance customers who drive a Mazda might be encouraged to hear about the company's confidence.

Some of the manufacturer's models have been named as the most popular of the year so far, so it is looking forward to the rest of 2009, a statement confirmed.

The Mazda2 was announced as the seventh best seller in Scotland during April, making this the second time Mazdas had featured in the top ten.

February saw the Mazda3 place sixth in the chart and this week the brand said it was sure things would get even better.

"Mazda has a great range now - the quality and reliability are exceptional and the cars are really good value for money," commented Alan Smith, brand manager at Mazda seller Macrae & Dick.

He added that sales of Mazda2s were above expected targets.

Earlier this month, the marque outlined its commitment to London Triathlons and Mazda Blenheim.

It entered a team in this year's events.
