27 May 2009 Hyundai wins safety award
Motorists looking for cheap car insurance could find the latest Hyundai i20 has plenty to offer them after it was awarded full marks in the new Euro NCAP safety standards. The new safety tests for all European cars are more stringent than in the past and require vehicles to use the most advanced safety technologies available to ensure they are up to scratch.
Hyundai's i20 has passed the new tests with flying colours, the manufacturer has revealed, as the five-door model scored 88 per cent in the adult occupant protection tests, including the new whiplash assessment.
Overall, the car was awarded the NCAP's five-star rating, which is the highest honour the system is able to bestow upon a vehicle.
"This is a proud moment for Hyundai," said Allan Rushforth, vice-president of Hyundai Motor Europe.
He added: "The i20's five-star rating is recognition of our commitment to providing customers with superior quality and top-class safety."
Many more people could soon be looking for car insurance for a brand new Hyundai, after the manufacturer announced it would be taking part in the government's scrappage scheme.
The initiative offers drivers of old vehicles up to £2,000 off the cost of a new motor to scrap their existing car and replace it with a newer, more environmentally-friendly model.
