Increasing numbers of drivers may start buying used light commercial vehicles (LCVs) online before going on to purchase their van insurance via the internet.

BCA has announced it is making it easier for its customers to purchase its second-hand models in this manner.

It explained it has expanded its Live Online Select programme - allowing buyers to bid from the comfort of their office or living room rather than having to attend an auction in person.

Currently, 17 per cent of purchases made at these sales are secured remotely.

BCA pointed out the popularity of its internet auction service is growing by about 30 per cent each year.

Communications director Tony Gannon stated: "For professional vehicle buyers, Live Online Select sales provide yet another opportunity to buy from a constantly refreshed selection of good quality used vehicles."

Drivers who purchase their LCVs in this way will be able to start searching for cheap van insurance on the internet immediately after securing a deal.
