Head of the Vehicle Intelligence Service Mark Hooper said the authorities were keen to maintain strong bonds with businesses like Tracker.

"These partnerships will reduce the likelihood of people becoming the victim of crime and directly counter the attempts by criminals to defeat location devices," he stated.

Over the years, Tracker has assisted in the recovery of more than £400 million worth of stolen vehicles.

The group has also played a role in some 1,800 arrests.
