The company has been named Van Manufacturer of the Year 2009 at the Fleet World Honours.

In addition to this, the Transit Connect took the accolade for best small model.

Director of commercial vehicles Steve Kimber stated Ford's excellent service and reliable products were a winning combination.

Meanwhile, the Fleet World judges revealed they had been particularly impressed with the manufacturer's efforts to minimise its impact on the planet - with ECOnetic Transit and Fiesta vans due out later this year.

John Kendall, the publication's editor, stated: "As manufacturers are looking at all the ways possible to cut emissions and reduce fuel consumption for cars, Ford will be the first to apply the same thinking to its van range."
