13 May 2009 New Astra 'should prove popular'
More British motorists may be inspired to take out comprehensivecar insurance policies for Vauxhall models when they see the latest addition to the company's line-up, it has been suggested.According to the manufacturer, the vehicle has had a complete makeover and should now appeal to a wider range of customers.
Marketing director Andy Gilson stated: "We're confident that its blend of dynamic design, new-to-class technology and immense driver appeal will attract an even broader spectrum of buyers in this sector."
He also said the sixth-generation model had little in common with previous incarnations of the car, claiming the only thing that remained the same was the name.
Vauxhall described the outward appearance of the vehicle as "distinctive" and said once inside drivers would find it luxurious and roomy.
The firm added it was convinced the new model would help the car retain its crown as the top British-built auto.
Meanwhile, Vauxhall recently announced it was selling two different gadgets that help to take the pain out of parking.
