12 May 2009 Vauxhall innovation could save drivers from tight scrapes

Vuaxhall parking sensors Motorists with third party insurance who realise their provider will not pay out for damage sustained while trying to squeeze into a tight spot may be impressed by the latest innovations from Vauxhall.

The manufacturer has come up with two gadgets that it claims could make "problem parking a thing of the past".

It suggested both devices may hold particular appeal for people who have to find spaces in busy urban areas.

The first is priced at £179 and involved sensors being fitted to a car's number plates.

Alternatively, for £229 bumper-mounted technology can be installed.

Vauxhall said the gizmos would be something most motorists would appreciate.

"How many times have we all overlooked tight parking spaces for fear of damaging our cars under the gaze of impatient drivers?" it asked.

Meanwhile, people who have taken out third party insurance because their old banger is not worth very much may be tempted to purchase a more up-to-date model after hearing all of Vauxhall's vehicles are available under the new scrappage initiative.
