06 May 2009 Volvo tackles hay fever
Motorists who worry that their hay fever could result in them having an accident and being forced to make a claim on their comprehensive car insurance may be impressed with Volvo. The manufacturer has pointed out all of its new autos are fitted with monitors that check air quality in the cabin, along with pollen filters.
It suggested this technology could help to protect its customers on the road, as itchy eyes and sneezing can prove distracting.
Peter Rask, managing director of Volvo, said: "Millions of people in the UK suffer from hay fever and other allergies, so it makes sense for us to focus attention on improving air quality and minimise any potential safety risk."
Some 20 per cent of Brits report experiencing the seasonal condition.
Drivers with hay fever keen to avoid making a claim on their comprehensive car insurance may also want to ensure any remedies they take to help alleviate their symptoms will not make them drowsy.
