"Sharp looks" and "fine handling" were mentioned, although tight seats in the back were also noted.

However, those who want a sensible and cheap-to-run car might find the Scirocco is a good choice, it added.

The engine is "pretty refined" and it might be cheaper than a petrol equivalent over the long term, What Car? added, suggesting drivers might be able to save money on essentials such as tax, fuel and depreciation.

Of course, spending less at the pump could mean there is more cash for comprehensive car insurance rather than a product which does not cover a motorist adequately.

Those who think they need a better deal for their motor premiums may want to have a re-read of the small print and see what else is on offer.
