29 April 2009 Latest Prius has improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions

The Prius has better fuel economy than before Toyota's latest version of its hybrid Prius provides motorists with better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.

According to the company, these are two benefits that drivers can experience if they choose the car, which is a complete hybrid able to run on petrol, electricity or a combination of both.

CO2 emissions have been reduced by 14 per cent to generate 89 g/km, while fuel economy has been improved by ten per cent.

This means the Prius gets 72.4 mpg, potentially making a saving for buyers who do not have to spend so much at the pump.

Of the new addition to its line-up, the manufacturer said it "will
not only be the world's most technically advanced mainstream car, it will also demonstrate the real world benefits of Toyota's market-leading hybrid powertrain, Hybrid Synergy Drive".

Earlier this week, the company revealed the next generation of the Verso, which is a multi-purpose vehicle and a potential vehicle for those with family car insurance.
