Reduced costs and carbon emissions are the goals for energy company E.ON, which has just taken delivery of over 100 Fiat Grande Punto vans.

The vehicle, which may be a good choice for van insurance customers, was selected for its overall economy and the positive feedback received from drivers during the evaluation stage.

A total of 101 of the motors will be provided as part of the five-year contract hire agreement. They will be used for E.On's meter-reading division.

They are brightly-coloured with reverse parking sensors, alarm systems, a speed limiter and air-conditioning, among other features.

Lloyds TSB Autolease funded the deal.

"This superb deal with Fiat Professional will allow E.ON to continue to offer its high level of service, while keeping an eye on running costs and the environment," said Grahame Neagus, the lender's head of the specialist commercial vehicle unit.

Earlier this month saw the Fiat 500 voted Design car of the Year for 2009.
