More motorists may be encouraged to buy comprehensive car insurance for Renault models after seeing the latest addition to the manufacturer's range.

According to the company, the entry-level Megane Hatch Extreme is likely to appeal to drivers looking for a "frugal, refined and stylish" ride.

The car is due to arrive in showrooms in June but is available to order immediately.

Priced from £13,250, Renault claimed the model offers better value for money than a number of its competitors.

"The chic French newcomer undercuts its significantly lesser-powered rival - the five-door Ford Focus Studio 1.4 Duratec 80PS - by a considerable £1,540," it said.

However, the manufacturer was also keen to point out there has been no compromises when it comes to specification.

The model comes with ESP, front electric windows, air conditioning and a music unit with radio, CD and MP3 as standard.

Motorists interested in the model may want to get a quote for comprehensive insurance before making an order so they are happy they can meet the running costs.
