22 April 2009 Mazda unveils new diesels

Two new Mazdas have been unveiled Two new diesel models have been added to Mazda's current product line-up, with prices starting from £12,817.

The Mazda2 1.6D Sport three-door and five-door cars are set to hit showrooms this spring and provide an alternative option for those who do not want petrol-powered vehicles.

Emitting 112 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre, the models are classed as Band C - which means owners pay £35 per year for road tax.

Consumers can expect to get about 67.3 miles to the gallon and the Mazdas are able to accelerate from zero to 62 miles per hour in 11.4 seconds.

"Every model out-performs potential rivals in terms of standard equipment and price - as well as ride, handling, economy and emissions," said Mark Cameron, sales and marketing director for the manufacturer's UK division.

"It is the naturally sporty choice for supermini car buyers."

Earlier this month, the company revealed its all-new Mazda3, which costs from £13,500 on the road.
