08 April 2009 Easter breakdown 'can be avoided'
Vehicle owners who do not want to end up relying on their car insurance policy's breakdown cover this weekend may want to consider booking their motor into a local garage.Motor Codes claimed people going away over the Easter weekend may reduce their chances of a lengthy wait at the roadside by taking their autos to be checked over by a professional.
It suggested mechanics should be able to detect and put right problems caused by the harsh winter weather.
The organisation explained this would probably be a cheaper option than having to pay for repairs after a car has been towed to a garage following a breakdown.
Director Chris Mason commented: "This is a very busy period for road users and probably the worst time of year to have the worry of being delayed due to a lack of minor maintenance."
Last month, the group reported the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair should mean British motorists are able to easily identify garages committed to providing excellent customer service.
