07 April 2009 Tyre advice could be useful for third party insurance holders
Motorists with third party insurance - who realise that an accident could prove costly - may do well to follow the advice of Protyre. The group has urged drivers to check their tyres before taking to the road over the bank holiday weekend.
It issued this advice in light of research that showed a quarter of vehicles in the UK have at least one defective tyre.
Protyre explained people driving around on tyres that do not meet minimum legal requirements are much more likely to be involved in accidents.
The company also pointed out it would be doing its bit to help keep drivers safe.
Retail director Simon Hiorns stated: "We are inviting motorists to come into their local Protyre outlet for a free tyre check to protect themselves, their families and other road users."
People with third party insurance who have a collision that is their fault will generally find they are liable to pay for any damage to their own vehicle.
