03 April 2009 Used car buyers 'should take their time'
People who are planning to buy a second-hand motor so they can cut costs by opting for third party car insurance need to do their research, it has been claimed.According to vehicle information group HPI, drivers should not allow themselves to be rushed into a decision when searching for a used model.
It explained if motorists end up purchasing a car in haste because they are concerned they will miss out on a great deal, they could live to regret their actions.
The company stated it was vital for buyers to check out a vehicle's history and get an independent inspection carried out to make sure they do not end up with a cut 'n' shut.
Nick Lindsay, director of HPI, said: "This will help identify whether the car is twice the car a buyer may think it is."
Motorists who do secure a great deal on a second-hand model may find third party insurance is a cost-effective option.
