11 March 2009 Mums urged to belt up
Mums may find making a claim on their specialist female car insurance is the least of their worries in the event of an accident if they - or their passengers - are not wearing a seatbelt, it has been suggested.West Yorkshire police are running a two-week campaign later this month to remind all motorists in Bradford about the importance of buckling up.
Officers explained people are much more likely to be seriously injured or killed in a crash if they are not secure in their seats.
During the upcoming initiative, they stated fixed penalty notices would be handed out to individuals who were not strapped in.
Motorists were also warned police would be looking out for anyone using a mobile phone behind the wheel.
Commenting on the seatbelt campaign, Sergeant Richard Cummings stated: "We will keep repeating operations like this until we get the message across to people."
Women drivers who receive a motoring conviction may find they lose access to cheap specialist female car insurance.
