04 March 2009 Criminals 'are targeting cars at beauty spots'

Motorists urged to be careful when leaving cars parked at beauty spots Women drivers in Surrey - who like to visit beauty spots to walk their dog or take a stroll - may do well to take on board advice from the police if they want to avoid a claim on their specialist female car insurance.

Officers from Mole Valley have urged motorists stopping at picturesque sites to be on their guard against vehicle crime.

They issued this warning after a BMW and Diahatsu were broken into on Saturday, while parked up in Headley Common car park.

A rucksack was stolen from the boot of the first vehicle and some loose change was taken from the second.

Drivers have been encouraged to take precautions to reduce their chances of being targeted.

PC Mike Bessent said: "Even simple measures such as removing valuable items and taking the boot cover off to show the vehicle is empty really can make a difference."

Women drivers who avoid making a claim for a few years may find they can secure the best deals available on specialist female car insurance.
