24 February 2009 Security advice may reassure women drivers

Tracker: Motorists should plan unfamiliar routes carefully Women drivers who are worried they may be targeted by criminals while on the road - and end up having to make a claim on their specialist female car insurance - may benefit from listening to advice from Tracker.

The vehicle recovery company explained although 40 per cent of UK drivers have been victims of vehicle crime, there are steps people can take to keep themselves safe.

It suggested motorists drive with their doors locked and that before setting off they plan their route carefully to avoid getting lost in unfamiliar areas.

People who feel intimidated by another road user while behind the wheel were advised to pull in at the nearest petrol station, flashing their lights and sounding the horn.

Tracker's police relationship manager Stuart Chapman commented: "Taking sensible and simple precautions before and during every car journey can drastically reduce the risk of being involved in a threatening incident."

Women who follow this advice may find it helps to protect their cheap car insurance premiums.
