Which Car?: Honda Jazz may be better than Peugeot 207 Women drivers who are considering downsizing in a bid to reduce the cost of their specialist female car insurance cover may welcome advice from a consumer guide.

According to Which Car?, trading in larger vehicles for smaller more fuel-efficient models will be a common phenomenon in 2009.

It stated people were beginning to accept they do not need a 4x4 for the school run.

The magazine added driving highly-polluting vehicles was becoming more of a social taboo.

It advised busy mums who were considering buying a car to opt for something like the Honda Jazz, rather than the Peugeot 207.

Which Car? pointed out the first model is cheaper and also uses less fuel than its rival.

Editor Richard Headland said: "It pays to think carefully about alternatives to the mainstream choices and if you go for a more fuel-efficient car you can cut costs for years to come."

Women who trade in a large model for something with a smaller engine may find they make savings on car insurance, as well as at the pump.
