Women drivers with allergies - who know just how distracting it can be to suffer a reaction behind the wheel - may be impressed by the new Ford Fiesta.

The model has been declared suitable for motorists with allergies by the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation, which awarded the car its Seal of Quality.

As a result, women drivers may find the vehicle can help them protect their cheap female car insurance premiums by reducing their chances of suffering a reaction while on the road.

Ford explained the vehicle has been tested by both the British Allergy Foundation and international authority TUV.

Andy Taylor, European sustainability director with the manufacturer, said it is well-known certain substances can cause problems in a significant number of people.

He added: "Our engineers take special care to minimise or eliminate such materials, something that is confirmed in these exhaustive tests."

Meanwhile, the Fiesta topped the UK sales chart in January.
