Motorists looking to invest in a used vehicle so they can save money by changing to third party insurance may want to consider a Vauxhall Corsa, after the model came out on top in a recent survey.

The poll by Road Test Reports to find the number one supermini in the UK saw the car take 35 per cent of the vote.

Meanwhile, the Honda Jazz and Ford Fiesta drove away with second and third spots respectively.

Commenting on the popularity of the Corsa, Road Test Reports said it was not surprised by the results of the vote.

It cited figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders which showed the model had sold more than any other supermini in the UK in 2008, with 99,574 registrations.

Spokesperson Faye Sunderland said: "It bodes well for Vauxhall, Honda and Ford to see that people don't just buy these cars but … that they are [also] satisfied with their purchase."

In other news, Labour MP Andrew Miller recently urged people to show their support for Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port manufacturing plant by buying British.
