22 January 2009 Advice could help protect cheap car insurance premiums
Motorists who do not want to jeopardise their cheap car insurance premiums by having to make a claim may want to take on board advice from Cobra UK.The stolen vehicle tracking firm is encouraging owners to start hiding their car keys.
It explained this was a sensible step as the most common way for criminals to steal vehicles is by taking the keys during a burglary.
The company acknowledged hiding keys from potential thieves may not be the number one concern for most people when they get home from a hard day's work.
However, it pointed out doing so could prevent a lot of expense and inconvenience.
Motorists were also advised there were other steps they could take to make life difficult for criminals.
Andrew Smith, managing director, stated: "A tracking device is a thief's worst enemy, as it can lead police to the exact location of the vehicle."
In other news, security company Tracker recently reminded motorists never to leave cars unattended with keys in the ignition.
