19 January 2009 Police launch monthly car seat service
Female car insurance customers in Scotland may be keen to take advantage of a service being offered by Tayside police.The force has launched a monthly service to check parents have fitted child seats correctly.
People interested in attending one of the sessions have been advised they will need to book first.
Marian Scott, road safety coordinator, explained: "The idea behind this new appointment scheme is to deliver an enhanced service on a date and at a time when the public know we will be available."
Officers were keen to point out they were not there to criticise parents or catch them out.
They said their aim was to provide an impartial service which could help keep kids safe.
People who want to book an appointment have been advised to contact their local road safety officer in Tayside.
In other news, the force recently reported a drop in temperature had resulted in a number of early morning road traffic accidents.
