15 January 2009 Commercial Vehicle Show 'will not take place in 2009'

Commercial Vehicle Show cancelled Van insurance customers who were contemplating attending the Commercial Vehicle Show may be disappointed to hear this year's event has been abandoned.

Originally scheduled to take place between April 18th and 30th at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, the gathering has been cancelled in light of the difficult trading conditions currently being experienced in the UK.

Organisers explained the economic downturn has made it hard for manufacturers to dedicate resources to this type of event.

Roger King, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association, expressed sadness at the cancellation.

"This is of course disappointing, but given the current economic climate and the uncertainty created, it is the only decision we could make," he stated.

Nick Jones, chief executive of the Society of Operations Engineers, reassured exhibitors they are entitled to a full refund.

In related news, organisers of the show recently said customers were still buying commercial vehicles, despite the slowing market.
