13 January 2009 Insurance customers may be tempted by great plates
People who have saved money on cheap car insurance may be tempted to splash their extra cash on a personalised registration this year.The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) said 2009 could well set pulses racing among private plate enthusiasts.
It explained it is due to auction off its highly-anticipated O-series of registrations.
The group revealed it expects the 1 O plate to prove particularly popular.
Damian Lawson, marketing manager with DVLA, stated: "1 O is arguably one of the last great jewels in our crown."
There are set to be six sales in total, with the 1 O plate due to go under the hammer at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire during the auction which starts on January 28th.
Other events will take place around the country in March, June, August, October and December.
In November 2008, Rob Harverson - a retired businessman - shelled out £197,000 for a plate with the registration 1 RH.
