07 January 2009 Van insurance customers 'should be offered good-value vehicles'
If dealers of second-hand commercial vehicles are going to attract van insurance customers - looking to update their wheels in 2009 - they need to "keep a cool head", it has been claimed.EurotaxGlass's said retailers should be able to ride out the economic downturn by focusing on their local market and supplying the models customers want.
However, spokesman George Alexander said remaining positive in the current financial climate could prove to be the biggest challenge for dealers in the UK.
"If the next couple of months are going to see demand slipping further ... when supply grows and business is traditionally slow ... the first requirement is to keep a cool head," he stated.
Mr Alexander said businesses should concentrate on offering motorists what they need at prices they can afford.
Last month, EurotaxGlass's suggested used heavyweight commercial vehicle retailers could improve their chances of achieving good profits at the beginning of 2009 by investing in quality stock.
