30 December 2008 Breakdown cover may prove important on Monday morning

Car Parts Direct: Monday may be a bad day for breakdowns More motorists than usual may find they end up relying on their breakdown insurance cover on Monday morning, according to Car Parts Direct.

The motoring repair company claimed January 5th 2009 is likely to witness more vehicle problems than any other day in the past 12 months.

It explained a significant number of drivers will not use their cars between New Year's Eve and the following Monday.

During this period, Car Parts Direct pointed out temperatures in some places could fall as low as minus 13 degrees C.

It stated the combination of freezing conditions and cars being left to stand for days on end was likely to result in people having trouble starting their engines.

Spokesman Martin Mosley said: "We fully expect Monday to be the single busiest day for years, simply because of how the days fall this year and the sudden drop in temperature."

Meanwhile, Car Parts Direct recently claimed the number of people making use of their breakdown cover this winter was likely to rise because an increasing group of vehicle owners are failing to carry out basic maintenance.
