17 December 2008 Simple steps 'can cut the chance of a car insurance claim'
Motorists in Wokingham who do not want to jeopardise their cheap car insurance deal by making a claim are being urged to be wary of criminals this Christmas.Thames Valley police have been offering drivers advice on how to cut their chances of being a victim.
As part of its crime-free Christmas campaign, the force reminded vehicle owners never to leave anything on view to criminals in unattended cars.
Rob Stanton from Wokingham Borough Council said people who had been out buying presents for friends and family should never leave the gifts unattended in their motors.
"I can understand the need to drop some things off in cars while you carry on shopping, but if they are in cars they are an advertisement to thieves," he warned.
Earlier this month, Thames Valley police revealed an operation in Bracknell had resulted in two vehicles being seized, after the people behind the wheel were found to be uninsured.
