Van insurance customers updating their current vehicle may want to consider opting for a Ford model after the manufacturer picked up a raft of awards at a recent ceremony.

The brand came away with five accolades for its light commercial vehicles from What Van?.

Its Transit received the Best Security award in the panel van category and the Transit Connect took the same title in the light van class.

The former model was also named Best Minibus and took the Small Van of the Year honour.

What Van? also gave a high commendation to the Ford One Stop Shop.

Steve Kimber, a spokesman for the winning manufacturer, put the company's success down to its ever- changing line-up.

He said: "The strength of our brand is in its constant evolution."

Mr Kimber stated: "Security is paramount to all business operators and alongside economy, cost-of-ownership and durability, security is always high on our agenda."

This comes after the Association of Car Fleet Operators declared the Ford Transit the Fleet Panel Van of the Year, for the 14th successive occasion.
