09 December 2008 Driving the morning after drinking 'can be a risky business'
People who do not want to see their car insurance premiums rise should be absolutely certain they are not over the drink-drive limit when they get behind the wheel, it has been claimed.Tayside police announced they will be focusing on road safety in the run-up to Christmas.
According to the force, it will be paying particular attention to people who take to the road the morning after consuming alcohol to check whether they are fit to drive.
Chief Inspector Sandy Bowman said it can be extremely hard to tell if you are still over the limit the day after drinking.
"What I am appealing for people to do, is ignore the numerous myths surrounding how and when it is safe to driver," he stated.
Mr Bowman added motorists should not think about getting behind the wheel if there is any chance they could still have alcohol in their system.
This comes after police in Northern Ireland warned road users they would struggle to secure motor insurance with a conviction for drink-driving.
