18 November 2008 Toyota iQ is 'small on the outside and spacious on the inside'
People hoping to cut their car insurance costs by opting for a smaller vehicle may want to take a look at the Toyota iQ.The manufacturer has reported a number of design innovations have made it possible for the diminutive model to offer a spacious ride.
It stated the car's asymmetrical dashboard was one factor in creating more room inside the vehicle.
The company explained the iQ offered some 130 mm extra space ahead of the front passenger seat, compared with a Toyota Yaris.
It added: "This means the passenger seat can be slid 50 mm further forward than the driver's seat, allowing a tall adult to sit comfortably in the seat behind."
Buyers who are tempted by the model may be even more interested after hearing it was named Japan's Car of the Year 2008, beating off competition from the Audi A4, the Citroen C5 and the Jaguar XF.
