BMW Motorrad has revealed its new roadster.

The new F 800 R was unveiled at the EICMA 2008 Milan Motorcycle Show and is set to be launched in May next year.

According to BMW, the latest model in the F 800 series "has been designed to deliver uncompromising handling, agility and steering precision, as well as maximum riding enjoyment".

It has a parallel twin engine with 4-valve technology and a 798 cc capacity, with its power upgraded to 87hp, bike or car insurance customers may be interested to know

Commenting on the new model, BMW Motorrad UK marketing manager Tony Jakeman said it was "a logical expansion" of the F 800 series but with "an urban edge".

Recently, the Motor Cycle Industry Association announced its support for a new safety campaign covering the whole of Europe. The campaign was developed by the Association des Constructeurs Europeens de Motocycles.
