Neil Greig, the director of policy and research at the organisation, states statistics show young people are far more likely to be involved in crashes where no seatbelt is being worn, which leads to a "terrible toll" of unneeded death, injury and dependence.

He adds that when people put on a seatbelt, they are given the protection of 30 years of engineering research and also allow a vehicle to offer to full protection it is designed to deliver.

A seatbelt "is probably the single most important safety feature in a modern car", he continues.

The organisation praises the advert for adopting a "scientific approach" when examining the aftermath of a crash, as well as the impact it has on the human body.
