Female car insurance customers who were hoping to buy a sporty new motor next year but are feeling the effects of the credit crunch may be interested in the latest offering from Alfa Romeo.

According to the manufacturer, the Alfa Mito has taken inspiration from the Alfa 8C Competizione supercar - which scooped the best design award at the 2008 Auto Express New Car Honours - but costs from £10,975.

Dealerships are due to start displaying the model from the beginning of next month - when customers will also be able to place orders.

However, the official launch date of the car is January 24th 2009.

The manufacturer claimed displaying the model two months before it hits UK roads will give fans the opportunity to check out the vehicle for the first time since this year's British International Motor Show.

It added the car featured technology never before seen on this category of motor.
